Wild Fermentation Class

Wild Fermentation Class

Fermentation is wild! And, yes, it’s naturally occurring… all around us, and within us. In this workshop, John will be demonstrating and discussing the basics of lacto-fermentation, wild yeast starters, and a step-by-step process to achieve unique, tasty, and healthful combinations from a variety of fruits. There will be several samples for everyone to taste throughout the class. We often forget that fruits are herbs, too. We’ll look at some of the healing properties of fruits as they transform through the process of fermentation. Herbs also have been traditionally utilized in various forms during the fermentation process, such as mugwort, yarrow, hops and many others. We can use a great variety of herbs during the fermentation process for flavor and medicinal properties. Learn to create vibrant, tasty, and healing beverages for personal use or for yourself and your family. Just as kombucha is made with green or black tea, we can use herbal infusions as a base for our fermentations to enhance absorption and assimilation. The possibilities are endless!

Autumn Community Seed Exchange

Hosted by the Prescott Farmers Market. More info here: https://www.facebook.com/events/589172401613411/

Everyone is invited to participate in the Autumn Community Seed Exchange hosted by the Prescott Farmers Market. We will have heirloom, organic, and conventional seed varieties available for give-away, but most importantly we encourage you to bring your own seeds to donate and exchange!

Here's what you need to know:

  • The seed exchange is open to the public and you are not required to bring seeds in order to participate.

  • Please label any seeds that you bring with the crop variety, harvest location, month/year, and the name of the harvester.

  • Please bring your own storage for seeds, such as paper envelopes or glass jars. If you forget, seed envelopes will also be available for use.

Many seeds that we will be distributing have been grown and saved from local gardeners so they are adapted to the local climate.

It's a great time of year to share your harvested summer seeds, so please encourage your friends and neighbors to shop at the market and attend this wonderful event.
