Good Food Finder's “Eat Local” Campaign launches in Superior!

The Eat Local campaign comes to Superior this October! Eat Local Superior is all about connecting locals to their neighborhood growers and food producers and learning how to support them in meaningful ways. Local growers have a huge impact on community health and on bringing the community together. Eat Local Superior aims to encourage locals to frequent local producers, markets and restaurants during these times of crisis and far into the future.

Superior has a band of food producers who love their community and want to help it be healthy and happy. Our Eat Local Superior partners are excited to be a part of this campaign to build a stronger Arizona through supporting Superior grown products. You can find our partners at goodfoodfinderaz.com/superior. You can also find available “Eat Local” merchandise such as tote bags, water bottles, and more.

We invite you to share your “Eat Local” experience with us! When posting on social media, be sure to tag @goodfoodaz on Instagram or @GoodFoodFinder on Facebook. You can also use #EatLocalSuperior, #Superior, #GoodFoodAZ, and/or #LocalFirstAZ in your posts.

Brick House Bakers and Gardens

Brick House Bakers has been a part of the Farm to Fantastic Farmers Market since it opened last year. It is owned and operated by Bert Archer. He loves the partnership and it helps connect him to the community, which he says is the most important part of his businesses. For Bert, the purpose of his business is not to get big but to stay focused on his community of Superior and serve its members. Mary Karlin, who also runs the farmers market, is the force behind Brick House Gardens. It is on her personal property and Mary is passionate about growing fresh produce. Any place on her property that she can find is full of plants and produce for her to share with the community.

Symbiotic Farms

The Symbiotic Farms team is also rebuilding an old house in Superior to be a second functional gourmet mushroom farm with a focus on oyster, lions mane, and pioppino mushrooms. Symbiotic Farms also produces figs, grapes, squash, tomatoes, herbs, and, honestly, whatever else they feel like growing! For Symbiotic Farms, it isn’t about growing everything they can. For them, it’s about being a source of inspiration; no matter where you are, you can grow your own food. Symbiotic Farms wants to create a community where we help feed each other. Symbiotic Farms is helping to build a community garden and it is projected to be open on November 1. They have also been a part of the community garden at the local elementary school.

Save Money Market

Serving the people of Superior since 1920, this neighborhood grocer offers quality products and good ol’ fashion customer service. The same family has owned the Save Money Market since it’s opening. The current owner, Michael, believes that the market should be like a community center where people can come together. This sense of community is central to the Save Money Market; they often sponsor little leagues or provide candy donations to the local fire department for Halloween trick or treating. The market is a great alternative to chain grocers. While it is small, there is great variety and Michael is more than willing to order something for the next shipment if you ask. The Save Money Market is best known for its roasted hatch chilis and meat selection. Each year, Michael goes to New Mexico to pick up as many hatch chilis as he can and then roasts them at the market. Michael also loves meat! He has great insight into what cuts to use for whatever meal you're planning.

Farm-to-Fantastic Farmer’s Market

This farmers market is a gathering place for local healthy food supporters, backyard growers and farmers, cottage and commercial food producers and all those who strive to fill their kitchens and community with quality artisan foods. The farmers market means a lot to the community members that frequent it. Having access to fresh produce has been a game-changer for them. If you’ve noticed a theme for Superior, it is community! The community aspect of the farmers market is the favorite element of many locals; they love being able to come together around delicious, fresh food and to help serve one another.
