Sharma Torrens

Conservation Specialist, Central Arizona Land Trust

Sharma Torrens is the owner of Ag-Conserve Consulting, LLC and is a consultant for the Arizona Association of Conservation Districts and Central Arizona Land Trust—two nonprofit organizations that work to conserve agriculture and natural resources, which are two of Sharma’s passions.

Sharma attended Arizona State University and obtained a B.S. in Biology. She later became a wildlife biologist for various NGOs and entities. Desiring to become a non-profit environmental attorney, Sharma attended Thomas Jefferson School of Law and practiced civil litigation for nearly seven years. Wishing to return to her love of wildlife conservation, she began working at Arizona Land and Water Trust (ALWT). Since ALWT works to conserve agriculture and natural resources, she was exposed to Arizona's farmers and ranchers, especially those within conservation districts. This was pivotal in Sharma's life as she then became educated about the importance of agriculture, and how farmers and ranchers are the best stewards of the land and are original conservationists.

After ALWT, Sharma worked as a Public Information Office and Legislative Liaison at Arizona Department of Agriculture and then opened her own company to focus on conserving wildlife and agriculture. She graduated from Project CENTRL, is a U.S. Bureau of Land Management AZ Resource Advisory Council member, and is on the International Leadership Alumni Conference Advisory Board, the Arizona Department of Agriculture’s Food & Ag Policy Advisory Committee, and Local First Arizona’s Coalition for Farmland Preservation.
