Rebecca Serratos

Vendor Development Coordinator, Prescott Farmers Market

Rebecca Serratos is a dynamic and energized local foods advocate with experience working at various food system levels. She began her career in the land grant university system by administering the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program-Education (SNAP-Ed) grant via the University of Arizona Cooperative Extension. Rebecca successfully advocated and advanced policy, system, and environmental changes centered on rural perspectives and experiences. This role was heavily focused on public health initiatives, community education, and work to make the healthy choice easy. However, Rebecca saw a gap in connecting said public health initiatives with the local food system. To bridge this gap Rebecca embarked on personally developing her own knowledge of growing food and completed both a certificate in Production Horticulture at the local community college and became a certified Master Gardener Volunteer. Equipped with this new knowledge Rebecca expanded her network to include small farmers and ranchers from across the state.

Rebecca is currently employed by the Prescott Farmers Market and is involved in expanding the local food system by working with and alongside advocates from across the state. She is working with Prescott Farmers Market to open a commissary kitchen for value-added producers and a food hub for local farmers and ranchers that aims to serve all of Northern Arizona. She is active on several boards and committees and is excited to bring a grassroots perspective to food production in all she does
