Adenike (Nike) Opejin

Project Manager, Babbitt Center for Land and Water Policy

Adenike Opejin, who goes by Nike, was born and raised in Nigeria before moving to the United States for her graduate studies. Nike is a Project Manager with The Babbitt Center for Land and Water Policy, a center of the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, and has been leading research focused on the impact of reduced water supplies for agriculture producers. Nike joined the Babbitt Center as a research fellow shortly after completing her Ph.D. in Sustainability from Arizona State University. Her ASU research focused on the nexus of water, energy, and agriculture, and she previously worked for five years as a research associate on an NSF funded Food-Energy-Water Nexus Modelling project in Arizona. Nike is a certified professional planner, AICP, and she has worked as a planner both in Nigeria and the United States. She is passionate about expanding knowledge that helps communities manage their resources sustainably to be more equitable, more resilient, and adaptive to climate change uncertainties.

A fun fact about Nike: she is a revered cook in her local Nigerian community in the Phoenix area—so much so that her friends and family keep prodding her to open a Nigerian restaurant in the Valley someday.
